THE AREA
The river Dordogne majestically winds it's way through the region crossing
the Perigord Noir and passing the village of Cenac et St Julien which lies at
the foot of the medieval bastide of Domme. To the west a short distance
along the river you will find La Roque Gageac as equally picturesque and
steeped in history as is Domme. A little further along is the famous
Chateau of Beynac.
The entire area is steeped in history and pre-history, counting the world
famous site of Lascaux within easy reach. From the dawn of time man has
left his mark in what must surely be described as one of the most beautiful
parts of France. From cave dwellings to fairy tale castles the views and
scenery are breathtaking.
